Visting the cellar, you see straight away many of the qualities shared by Langhe's best producers: tradition, excellent growing conditions, vineyards of considerable maturity, meticulous vineyard and cellar practices and a warm, genuine sense of hospitality." Gambero Rosso Italian Wines 2009 The family claims sole ownership of the beautiful Bricco Boschis cru in the Castiglione Falletto district (also home to Scavino and Azelia), where they have been growing Nebbiolo since 1929, and bottling their own wine since 1948. These richly structured wines place emphasis on elegance and longevity, attributable to excellent vineyards in the Bricco Boschis and Vignolo crus and traditional long maturation in large Slavonian oak. Steadfast devotion to tradition combined with a high regard and respect for modern viticultural and vinification techniques result in complex and elegant Baroli that are released for sale only when they have acquired a perfect mature harmony; often the release date falls much later than those of other producers. The Dolcetto and Barbera from the estate are deliciously soft, without the modern flash of many of the others found in this region, and offer great value. download order form 2006 Cavallotto Dolcetto Vigna Scott Shelf Price $36.00 Offer Price $30.00 "The estate’s 2006 Dolcetto d’Alba Bricco Boschis Vigna Scot is another terrific wine from this hillside vineyard in Castiglione Falletto. Masses of ripe dark fruit sweep across the palate, yet persistent notes of minerality give the wine a gorgeous sense of balance and proportion. In recent years the Vigna Scot has emerged as one of the most consistently successful and delicious Dolcettos around. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2011." 90 points, Antonio Galloni The Wine Advocate 2005 Cavallotto Dolcetto Vigna Melera Shelf Price $42.00 Offer Price $36.50 100% Dolcetto. The vineyard faces to the South-west at 310m above sea level. Fermentation occurs 100hl temperature controlled inox tanks with the cap semi-submerged. The wine is transferred to Slavonian oak botti of 30 and 80 hl for ageing. 2004 Cavallotto Barbera Vigna Del Cuculo Shelf Price $50.00 Offer Price $42.50 Fruit from a single vineyard, Vigna del Cucolo, This is Barbera made in the classical sense, aged in large Slovenian oak barrels that are the same barrels used for Barolo. The wine is spends an average of 24 months in barrel. Classic Barbera is relatively hard to find as it is expensive due to the barrel aging process, and this Barbera is both barrel aged as well as being a single vineyard wine. 2005 Cavallotto Langhe Nebbiolo Shelf Price $57.00 Offer Price $48.50 The Cavallotto Nebbiolo Langhe made from their declassified Barolo stock. The wine is ruby red at the core, with tinges of garnet. An intense yet elegant nose, showing aromas of cherry liqueur, red berries, dark chocolate, tar and earth, as well as a quite ethereal touch of violets and dry roses. The palate is well-balanced with the traditional grippy tannins and a good acidity, which adds a wonderful freshness. The finish is flavourful and persistent. A baby-Barolo... 2003 Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis Shelf Price $115.00 Offer Price $97.95 100% Nebbiolo from vines planted to calcareous and clay soils with a south, south-easterly exposure. Fermentation in steel rotary fermentors for 20 days, aging in Slovenian oak casks of various sizes for a minimum of 42 months. "The 2003 Barolo Bricco Boschis, a dark ruby, reveals a wild, brooding personality. It offers masses of dark fruit and grilled herbs in a full-bodied, idiosyncratic, somewhat animalistic style. It is a massively tannic, impressively structured Barolo that needs bottle age to settle down. While it may not have the elegance of the superb 2001, this quirky Barolo improved markedly in the glass and is likely to offer much pleasure for those who can be patient. It remains one of the better relative values in Barolo. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020." 91 Points Antonio Galloni The Wine Advocate download order form Tastings March TODAY 30 March - Affordable Burgundy - 6-8pm Instore free On Saturday 10 April 2004, new Australian Federal Government legislation came into force that requires that no unsolicited emails be sent without the permission of the recipient.
