Dear Wine Aficionado,

First a thank you to all who managed to pop past last week and have a look at our 'new' Bistro & Delicatessen, the feedback was terrific on not only the food, but the space itself. Merci Beaucoup!

With last week's French festivities all said and done we thought it would be nice to offer out the 9 wines we had by the glass during this time, so for those of you that worked your way through them here they are for your drinking pleasure.

Bastille 9-pack

Following on from last weeks Bastille Day celebrations we are offering an unusual 9 bottles of wine, all of which featured by the glass in our bistro for the week. So for those of you who popped in, here is a chance to snap up the collection for a snip.

2005 Monmousseau 'Cuvee JM' Blanc de Blancs Brut $27
Chenin Blanc
"Floral, green apple, creamy, peach skin aromas. Round, slightly foamy mousse with medium body and acidity. Apple, nutty, honey, peach skin, citrus flavours. A slightly sweet style but fresh and easy to consume."

2005 Chevilly Quincy $35
Sauvignon Blanc
"Almost water white. Quite pungent, fresh cut grass scent. Intensely citrus, possibly even mandarin, this is a classically structured Loire Sauvignon; refreshing and long."

2006 Monmousseau Vouvray $22
Chenin Blanc
"Vouvray in every way — mildly sweet, mildly acidic. Very easy to drink. Has characteristic full mouth-feel with flavors of pear, citrus, and sweet apple.  Nice wine for sweeter wine lovers to enjoy without excluding the dry white consumers."

2007 Lonq-Depaquit Chablis $40

"The nose is classic seashore with a hint of savoury barrel ferment. In the mouth it's linear, minerally, savoury and beautiful with a long impressive mineral finish."

2008 Bernard Moreau et Fils Bourgogne $37

"The bouquet is a blend of black cherries, dark berries, chocolate and soil tones. On the palate the wine is fullish, long and juicy, with silky tannins and sneaky length and grip."

"Has a mature edge, with hints of cedar and incense, framing the core of black cherry, tobacco and tar notes. Slightly edgy finish."

2005 Courlat Lussac-Saint Emilion $33.50
Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc
"Intense, ripe and elegant red fruit character on the nose, leads to vibrant purple colour core, with brick red edges showing maturity. On the palate the wine is fresh, with plenty of vibrant red fruit, ripe tannins and a delicious fruity finish."

2005 Rimauresq Cotes de Provence Rouge $35
Syrah, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mouvedre
"A fruity, medium-bodied red, displaying plum and dried raspberry flavors, with plenty of tannic kick."

"Golden-colored with a green hue. Full-bodied and very sweet with good intensity and lots of spicy, dried apricot character. Long finish."

Although in 2003 Tuscany was hit my a massive heatwave which gave the vintage a dark cloud over it, some wines still managed to maintain a perfect balance and shine. Bistro & Delicatessen News

Europa Bistro & Delicatessen is fully operational serving breakfast, lunch and supper 7 days a week. The ambiance is that of a Parisian wine shop that serves hearty bistro fare. You can choose any bottle from the shop and drink it with your meal for a modest sum of $12, or have any of the constantly rotating wines available by the glass chosen from some of the gems instore.
The delicatessen is fully stocked with an array of cured meats, both local and imported, as well as a selecion of terrines, dips, pastes, chutneys and cheese for all your entertaining needs.
Following on from last weeks Bastille Day celebrations we have decided to continue embracing the tradition of pre-dinner libations to transition from your stressful working day to the frivolity of friends and a great meal with our 'Aperitif Hour'. So pop in between 5pm-7pm for half price on our selection of aperitifs or a glass of champagne.
