The featured producers are: Domaine de Beaurenard, Domaine de la Citadelle, Domaine de Durban, Domaine Gallety and Domaine du Vieux Chene. $416.00 value for $333.00 or purchase a la carte at the prices indicated below Domaine de Beaurenard Domaine de Beaurenard has been a family-run estate for seven generations. The Coulon brothers, Daniel and Frédéric, have taken over from Paul and Régine and are striving to sustain tradition. This Domaine, famous for its Chateauneuf du Pape, in 1980 acquired 25 ha of grapevines in Rasteau and commenced production of Cotes du Rhone and Cotes du Rhone Villages Rasteau. These wines are more affordable than their Chateauneuf du Pape counterparts but concede nothing in quality. 2006 Domaine du Beaurenard Cotes du Rhone- 1 btl in the mixed dozen, or Shelf Price $31.00 / Offer Price $26.50 Grenache 70% Syrah 25% Mouverde and Cinsault 5% harvested by hand; vinified and matured in stainless steel. The Grenache provides body and structure, the Syrah fruit lift and elegance of Syrah. An aromatic wine, round, pleasant aromas of ripe fruit (wild strawberry), nuts, dried fruit, a touch of mint (which brings a lot of freshness). All this gives a full and easy wine to drink. It perfectly accompanies a variety of different dishes, from the simplest to the most original. Côtes Wine Spectator "An open-knit, elegant style, with notes of raisin, plum, scandalwood and licorice root supported by tannins that are ample but round and supple." Gold Medal - Mâcon 2007 2004 Beaurenard Cotes du Rhone Villages Rasteau- 1 btl in the mixed dozen, or Shelf Price $44.00 / Offer Price $37.00 Grenache 80% Syrah 20% This highly concentrated wine, made from vines planted on the best slopes and terraces of the famous Rasteau soils, has an appealingly strong personality. Besides aromas of very ripe fruit, it is generally laced with notes of spice and garrigue scrubland scents specific to this terroir. Appealing tannic structure, a rounded body, rich and powerful…this is the Beaurenard's typically strong character. "We loved Beaurenard Côtes du Rhône Villages Rasteau 2004" La revue du Vin de France 2005 Beaurenard Cotes du Rhone Villages Rasteau- 1 btl in the mixed dozen, or Shelf Price $44.00 / Offer Price $37.00 Grenache 80% Syrah 20% This review written at the time of release of the wine says it all. "The 2005 Rasteau shows the vintage’s almost unrelenting tannin and structure. Firm, backward, medium to full-bodied, impressively colored, concentrated, and rich, but very backward, give it 3-4 years of bottle age and drink it over the following decade." 89+ The Wine Advocate download order form Domaine de de la Citadelle The Rousset-Rouard family has owned the impressive "Citadelle" in Ménerbes since 1980. In 1989 Yves Rousset-Rouard purchased an ancient provençale farmhouse with 8 hectares of vines and decided to throw all his passion and efforts into creating Domaine de la Citadelle and sculpting a "grand vin" that reflects the quality and typicity of the Côtes du Luberon appellation, which at the time was transitioning from VDQS to full AOC status. Over twenty years, and through hard work, patience, strict selection of only the best vineyard parcels, Yves Rousset-Rouard, assisted by his son Alexis, who joined him in 1995, has succeeded in creating one of the top domaines in the Côtes du Luberon. 2006 Citadelle Cotes du Luberon Artemes Blanc - 1 btl in the mixed dozen, or Shelf Price $38.00 / Offer Price $32.50 Roussane 30% Grenache blanc 30% Clairette 30% Rolle 10% The grapes always come from the same three parcels of land. The fruit is harvested in cases, macerated on its skins and fermented in stainless steel. The wine is matured in tank on its lees. Both delicate and rich it is an ideal food wine. It is drinking well now - we can vouch for that - but will keep until 2011/12 2006 Citadelle Cotes du Luberon Châtaignier Rouge - 1 btl in the mixed dozen, or Shelf Price $23.00 / Offer Price $19.50 Syrah 30% Grenache 30% Carignan 30% Mouvèdre 10% Vinified in stainless steel vats; 70% de-stemmed; maceration lasts for 12 to 15 days; the Carignan grapes undergo carbonic maceration; aged in tank. This is a fruit driven wine characteristic of the appellation. Drink now or up until 2011 2003 Citadelle Cotes du Luberon Artemes Rouge - 1 btl in the mixed dozen, or Shelf Price $38.00 / Offer Price $32.50 Syrah 50% Grenache 40% Carignan 10 % From low yielding vines (40 hectolitres per hectare); harvested manually in cases; 100% de-stemmed; fermented in stainless steel vats with pigeage; macerated for 20 to 25 days; matured in vats and 20% in barrels, 4 and 5 years old. This vintage is the product of a selection of parcels of land that were planted nearly twenty years ago with Grenache and Syrah. The nose is powerful without being heavy, with hints of red fruits, blackberries and wild grassland. The mouth is rich with deep notes of fruit and spice. The framework is refined and with a fine tannins finish. Goes well with lamb, other red meat or game - Drink now or up until 2012/2013. 89 Points Robert Parker Wine Advocate download order form Domaine de Durban The Domaine de Durban was established on a hillside plateau overlooking the village of Beaumes de Venise in the year 1159. In the mid 1960's the Domaine was taken over by the Leydier family who now oversee the production of the wines. All the grapes are hand harvested with careful sorting in both the vineyard and winery. The estate is famous for its sweet wine Muscat de Beaumes de Venise which is regarded by most reviewers as the best example of the the appellation year in year out. More recently they have been making some outstanding red wines under the appellation Cotes du Rhone Villages Beaumes de Venise - granted Cru status in 2005. 2005 Durban Cotes du Rhone Villages Beaumes de Venise Vielle Vignes - 1 btl in the mixed dozen, or Shelf Price $30.00 / Offer Price $25.50 Greanache 75% Syrah 20% Mourvedre 5% The Grenache vines are 60 years old. Half the wine is aged in old oak foudres, the other half in tank. It is a big, well structured, dense coloured wine with good acidic balance: robust cherry and blackberry flavours. This wine is ready to drink now but has at least another five years in front of it. This wine was outstanding, in a strong line up at last weeks in store tasting. 2004 Durban Votes du Rhone Villages Beaumes de Venise Cuvee Prestige - 1 btl in the mixed dozen, or Shelf Price $39.00 / Offer Price $33.00 Grenache 50% Syrah 30% Mouverdre 20% Dark ruby/purple color, with full fruit flavours. It comes from the older vines of the estate and displays great structure, density and opulence. Lush and elegant the same time It is a beautifully made Cotes du Rhone Villages. Drinking well now but will cellar well to 2016. 2006 Durban Muscat de Beaumes de Venise - 1 btl in the mixed dozen, or Shelf Price $51.00 / Offer Price $43.00 Muscat a Petit Grains (aka Muscat Frontignan) 100% Hand harvested and vinified and matured in lined concrete tanks. Pale yellow in colour; spectacular aromatics, with peach and marmalade notes. Unctuously textured without being cloying, balanced with good acidity. It is great as an aperitif, an accompaniment to savoury canapes, or as a dessert wine. It is normally recommended that wines from this appellation be drunk within three years of vintage however our experience is that the Durban will drink well over at least six years. download order form Domain Gallety Occupying 17 hectares of agrilo-limestone on south eastern slopes overlooking the Rhône, the Domaine Gallety is the home of Alain Gallety, one of the most highly regarded winemakers in the Ardèche. Using biodynamic culture grape varieties Grenache and Syrah are harvested by hand. Sorting is practiced and severe, the grapes being de-stemmed and lightly crushed before a long maceration period. Vinification is traditional. Aged for up to 2 years in a mixture of new and used oak barriques. 2005 Domaine Gallety Cotes du Vivarais - 1 btl in the mixed dozen, or Shelf Price $43.00 / Offer Price $36.00 Grenache 50%, Syrah 50% 40 year old vines. This deep ruby/purple-hued wine exhibits the characteristics of the Gigondas and Chateauneufs from further south. Big ripe bouquet of black cherries, blackberries, licorice and herbs. Vibrant full-bodied with ripe fruits, spices and mellow tannins, a long and persistent finish. The wine is unfined and unfiltered. Drink now or cellar until 2015 download order form Domaine du Vieux Chene The Domaine du Vieux Chene vineyards spread out on a slightly sloped and very rocky plateau, over the territories of the villages of Travaillan, Sérignan and Camaret. This location offers the wines a beneficial microclimate thanks to an especially high level of yearly sunshine. The Domaine is owned and run by Jean-Claude and Beatrice Bouche. Vieux Chene is certified as an organic producer by Ecocert. The biodynamic practices used in the vineyard and winery result in well made natural wines that are age worthy - even the drink now wines benefit from three or fours years in bottle 2006 Vieux Chene CdRhone Rose Cuvee Capucines - 1 btl in the mixed dozen, or Shelf Price $23.00 / Offer Price $19.50 Grenache 100% The Cotes du Rhone vines come from the southern part of the Domain, near Camaret, a place called "Piécaud," meaning "warm feet" in Provençal.
